How to install map updates on Kenwood receivers

When the preloaded maps become out of date, the DNX6980 will provide periodic notification at startup.

You can order Garmin software and map update cards from the www.garmin.com/kenwood site via a microSD memory card. When you receive the card, you’ll need to insert it in your receiver. The 10-digit ID number of your headunit will appear on the receiver’s screen, which you’ll be required to enter on the Garmin Kenwood map update site. You’ll need to enter the 4-digit activation code displayed on the receiver’s screen, as well as the 8-digit licence key that comes with the card. That’s it, click on the “Activate card” button and you’re good to go!
